Despacito is a song from 2017 released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It became the top popular streamed song in the world within the space of six months. The single Despacito, a mixture of reggaeton with pop music, not only brought new interest to reggaeton but also brought more attention to Latin music. The Billboard Top 100 had four songs mainly in Spanish in 2016, compared to two in the year 2015. The popularity of Despacito was at its highest in 2017. In 2020, 41 mostly Spanish songs will make the Top 100. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 as a bilingual rendition. Soon, other artistes collaborated with Reggaeton's biggest stars such as Drake and Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma together with Medellin 2019 Some reggaeton artists have criticized the shift to popular music by 2020. But a new group, Rauw Alejandro, wanted to continue the growth and evolution of reggaeton. Rauw Alejandro incorporated elements of other genres and electronic music.
