
Thomas Jeffrey Hanks, born on July 9, 1956, is an American actor. He is famous for his comedic and dramatic role. Hanks is an American iconic cultural figure. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was the father of Janet Marylyn, a hospital worker, and Amos Mefford Hanks (an itinerant chef). His mother, who was originally referred to as "Fraga" was from an ethnically Portuguese family. His father, however, was mostly English. Tom was born into the context of a "fractured family". He was not an actor in college, and attributes his inability to be cast in a college production as the reason he started his career. He auditioned in the city for a show in the theater for community members. Director offered him a trip to Cleveland and that's where his acting career started.
